This post card shows our Inn before 1960

Located between Brotterode and Kleinschmalkalden, you can find the Seimberg, 803m high. On the western side, a rock formation rises above the forest. From this terrific view you can see the Rennsteig and the Rhön. In the northwest, look for the ruin Liebenstein. In the valley below, the silver band of the river Werra divides us from the Rhön. In the far distant, you can spot the massive tops of the Wasserkuppe and the Kreuzberg. In this idyll, our Inn "Zum Fuchsbau" is located. Our Inn has been a family business for five generations.

The Inn was built by Gottlieb Fuchs in 1895. In 1871, the bar/restaurant was opened. Year round, we are the ideal starting point for hikes and trips to the beautiful nature of the Thuringian Forest. Many signposts guide hikers to different locations such as the "Großen Inselsberg" where you can try out summer luge, to the "Trusetaler Waterfall " with the famous dwarf park, the "Auwallenburger Tower" and along the most popular trail of the forest: the "Rennsteig".
