.....driving past beautiful Eisenach, we drove towards the "Rennsteig" way far away from the interstate freeways and big city noise and enjoyed three wonderful days in the Thueringer forest. In addition, we had loads of fun on our day trips to Weimar, Jena and also to the Wartburg as well as enjoyed the peacefulness and tranquility of Mommelstein, the delicious food and last but definitely not least, the kindness and friendly atmosphere at the Fuchsbau. After three very relaxing days, we didn't say good-bye and take care, rather "see you soon" - - we're counting the days already until we can return to this most memorable place in Germany..... The ghost of Mommelstein has haunted the bed-and-breakfast for many years. The last unexplained encounter happened in July of 2005. The shatter of a glass falling down caught the attention of guests and employees. The glass fell off the counter for no physical reason.
If you don't get to see the ghost, ask your waiter about it and you may be able to actually taste it!
